Knute Nelson Home Care, a Medicare-Certified, Class A Agency, provides health care services to persons in their own homes within a 35-mile radius of Alexandria in need of medical, nursing, social, or therapeutic treatment and/or assistance with the essential activities of daily living. Care is provided by health care professionals under the direction of the client’s physician.

Services are tailored to meet the needs of each individual and are provided on a one-to-one basis.

Knute Nelson Home Care services include:
  • Physical, occupational, and speech therapies for recovering after knee or hip surgery, stroke, swallowing or speech impairments
  • Cardiac and blood pressure monitoring
  • Medication management and education
  • Chronic illnesses: congestive heart failure, diabetes, emphysema, pneumonia, asthma, bronchitis, cancer, urinary trace infection, high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, muscle weakness, stroke, pernicious anemia, mental disease, etc.
  • IV therapy
  • Lab draws
  • Pain management
  • Wound care, recurring infections
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Skilled nursing care
  • Telehealth monitoring of acute or chronic illnesses
  • Home health aide (activities of daily living such as bathing, transferring, skin care, etc.)
  • Homemaking services (meal preparation, shopping, laundry, housekeeping, etc.)
  • Invasive procedure education and care (trach, urinary catheter, tube feedings, wound vacs, wound care, decutus care, drainage tubes, etc.)

The Knute Nelson Home Care team is comprised of Registered Nurses, Home Health Aides, Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists, and a Dietician.
